Ranjith and Shruti were in a dilemma. It had been years since they were married and all was well, save for the few instances of fights that were all in good spirit. But somehow things turned stale as moments of love, which used to come out of spontaneity, became dictated by rules and schedules.

The 'Good Mornings' wished, which were eagerly looked forward to, now became a part of the body clock and Shruti was the first to notice. Both were working and so had a hectic schedule to get ready and be prepared for a day at the office.

What pained Shruti was not even a glance from Ranjith, the stare reserved only for her. Ranjith was as usual, sitting on the dining table, fully prepared for breakfast and was engrossed on which side of the toast to butter. Shruti sat adjacent to him on the four seater dining table, calmly reading the newspaper and sipping tea.

Both were discussing there side of the conversation: the maid didn't clean the house properly, someone moved documents without permission. Shurti looked at Ranjith with a thoughtful countenance. Ranjith's sixth sense kicked in as he became aware of Shruti.

"Whats up?" Ranjith asked.
"Nothing much." replied Shruti.

By now Ranjith was more awake than the kick his coffee could have possibly given him. Infact his inner mind was in an emergency meeting as all his grey cells huddled up for a meeting, "Guys, calm down but this can be a code red."

Ranjith knew asking her would be useless. He looked at her, her head hidden by the newspaper now. Shruti lay the newspaper on the table and looked at Ranjith. Ranjith, from beneath the table held Shruti's hand.

It is amazing what the touch of the hand can tell a person, the heat of the finger tips betraying the emotions of the person as each other's finger slid into one another like a braided rope. Ranjith knew Shruti had something in her mind and her hands were enough to tell him since they couldn't grasp a hold of him and were cold, emotionless. Shruti became aware of how she was being read and motioned to withdrew the hand.

Ranjith didn't let her go and instead bundled his fingers and grabbed the edge of her hand. closed his eyes and had scrunched his face, possibly in a dilemma what to do, "ummm want to take the day off, both of us?"
Shruti sighed and smiled. She took Ranjith's hand slid her fingers back between his and looked at him back, "what do you have in mind?" The warmth of their finger tips was soon swooning into each others hand as their hands playfully fiddled together as Ranjith and Shruti talked.
